We started Barked About because we couldn’t understand why dog beds always seemed to be an afterthought.
Our dogs are part of the family. They’re on the sofa, in every holiday photo and involved in almost everything we do. So why should the one thing that’s truly theirs be something you’d rather hide away?
We wanted to create a dog bed that felt as considered as the rest of the home; one that dogs genuinely love to curl up in, and owners are proud to leave on display.
Born in London, every Barked About bed is handmade by a family-run manufacturer in East London using recycled velvet fabrics. Inside, each cushion is generously filled with soft fibre made from recycled plastic bottles. Our fabric is printed in the UK using a more sustainable printing process, before being transformed into beds designed to last for years, not seasons.
We launched with houndstooth because it perfectly captures what Barked About stands for. Deeply rooted in British design, it’s a pattern that has stood the test of time. Historically, houndstooth was also prized for disguising everyday wear, making it the ideal choice for life with muddy paws and wet noses…
We believe the most sustainable product is one you don’t need to replace. That’s why every bed features a removable, machine-washable cover, with interchangeable designs that can be updated as your home evolves. Whether you’re refreshing a room, embracing a new season or simply fancying a different look, you can swap the cover rather than the whole bed.
Everything is made in small batches, packed by us and created with the belief that practical products don’t have to compromise on beautiful design.
After all, if your dog runs the house (ours certainly do), their bed should look right at home in it.
